Logan Cataldo

HCCC ICARE Post-Baccalaureate
Biography

Logan completed his BS in Microbiology with a minor in Biotechnology at North Carolina State University. He spent a year in the Ascencio-Ibáñez lab developing a Geminiviral plasmid vector and an additional year after graduation as a lab technician for the Biotechnology (BIT) program, where he optimized an assay for use in the teaching laboratory.

As an ICARE postbac, he is contributing to a project to develop a mouse model that integrates a cisplatin-induced ototoxicity mouse model with a tumor-bearing mouse model to test and identify therapies that can mitigate hearing loss while preserving cisplatin’s anti-cancer efficacy. He is also investigating the mechanisms by which macrophages modulate blood-labyrinth barrier permeability.
