Kushal Raj Roy

Biography

Kushal earned his B.S. in Microbiology from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, through an Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Fulbright Scholarship. He then moved to the United States to pursue a fully funded M.S. in Biochemistry at the University of Houston.

Kushal joins the lab as an iBio graduate student and contributes to projects focused on developing a single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) quality-control and analysis pipeline for cochlear transcriptomic analysis to investigate cell type–specific transcriptional responses to cisplatin, as well as characterizing immune cell populations within the cochlea.

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of research?

I play acoustic guitar and write fiction rooted in my family history in Bangladesh.
